Bidford Bridge works postponed due to water levels ** Update 19th Feb **

Following contact with project officers at the Avon Navigation Trust (who are providing vessel support to install the scaffolding within the river space) and Balfour Beatty (Principal Contractor working on behalf of WCC), there is to be a revised start date due to the detrimental weather and its subsequent effect on the River Avon.

The River Avon’s level at this time is unlikely to fall to sufficient point that would support working vessels travelling to site. An assessment of the river level and its flow rate will be made on a weekly basis in an attempt to forecast the revised start date – it is currently two weeks later that anticipated, potentially now week commencing 2nd March, and again subject to review. To remind you of the initial arrangements; it is envisaged up to two weeks off-peak road closures (Mon-Fri, 09:30 to 15:30) are required to install the scaffold, with no vehicular crossing during the daily window of closure.

I will endeavour to keep you updated going forward and ask our team to update the project website accordingly. The dedicated project email inbox is live, and managing enquiries from members of the public; bidfordbridge@warwickshire.gov.uk .
