The Bidford Community Banner Group is a small voluntary team that started up in 2017 with a view to displaying colourful banners along the High Street to brighten it up. None of the team knew how it would take off and in the summer of 2018, the first 10 banners were displayed on both business and residential premises along the High Street.

Since then, more businesses and residents have come on board and the banners were extended into Icknield Street and Grange Road. Gradually, the team have added to the mix with various designs over the years to date. The banners go “up” in May and come “down” in October. We have also introduced the “Banner Trail” which guides you through all the banners on display with a family fun quiz. These are usually available in our Village Café.

A great deal of work and effort goes into producing a single banner and the wonderful British weather certainly puts them through their paces, resulting in extensive repairs & repaints for most of them. Still, the team is a hardy bunch and enjoys this annual challenge as well as preparing fresh new designs for the next summer. We are aiming for 50 in total.
